For Miss Molly Truly Lovely

Molly you were better than any other,
Gracious mother and grandmother,
The best by far,
But now your gone, your spirit gleams brighter than any star,
A loving companion a friend so loyal and true
That's why they named you miss molly Truly lovely cause we all loved you.

The day you were taken, tears blinded my sight
Years we shared, the memories kept tight
Your rosettes hang upon my wall
Molly your beauty won them all.

They say the hurt gets better in time
But not for me molly, my love for you was sublime,
Not just a dog, but a baby, a child to me
I wish others could understand and see
For poetry and words never could make things right
Only to have you back again, would be my only delight.

Your coat so soft, eyes so warm and bold
Having you around never made me feel alone or cold,
By my feet and side, your always there
Heartfelt memories, my secrets i did tell and share
So my miss molly, as you can see
In my heart and memories you will always be.

FOR OUR BABIES MOLLY AND TIA

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Sorrow fills a barren space;
you close your eyes and see my face
and think of times I made you laugh,
the love we shared, the bond we had,
the special way I needed you -
the friendship shared by just we two.

The day's too quiet, the world seems older,
the wind blows now a little colder.
You gaze into the empty air
and look for me, but I'm not there -
I'm in heaven and I watch you,
and I see the world around you too.

I see little souls wearing fur,
souls who bark and souls who purr
born unwanted and unloved -
I see all this and more above -
I watch them suffer, I see them cry,
I see them lost, I watch them die.
I see unwanted thousands born -
and when they die, nobody mourns.

These little souls wearing fur
(Some who bark and some who purr)
are castaways who - unlike me -
will never know love or security.
A few short months they starve and roam,
Or caged in shelters - nobody takes home.
They're special too (fur balls of pleasure),
filled with love and each one, a treasure.

My pain and suffering came to an end,
so don't cry for me, my person, my friend.
But think of the living - those souls with fur
(some who bark and some who purr) -
And though our bond can't be broken apart,
make room for another in your home and your heart.

From the minute your Boxer arrives
Things will never be the same
He'll take over your life completely
But you'll soon be glad that he came.

As a pup he's inclined to be wilful
Defiant and boisterous at play
When he's chewing his lead whilst out walking You may even rue the day.

But when he reaches 8 or 9
And begins to settle down...!
Oh, by the way did anyone tell you
That Boxers middle name is "Clown".

He'll like to be with you round the house
He's a dog that likes to join in
He'll 'help' you to lay that carpet
With a shuffle, a grunt and a grin!

So if you're thinking of owning a Boxer
I promise you life will never be dull
He'll make you laugh, and he'll make you cry As he lives his life to the full.

'Oh look at me' said the Boxer
'Oh look at me and sigh'
None can compare with my beauty
For a Boxer puppy am I.

I'm soft and adorably cuddly
With eyes full of mischief and joy
'We'll have her' they said so excited
They looked on me just as a toy.

'Oh look at me' said the Boxer
'Oh look at me and cry'
No longer adorably cuddly
No longer with joy in my eye.

I cried in the night, so they told me
Made puddles on their kitchen floor
And though I was only a baby
They left me outside the back door.

It's cold out here, and I'm lonely
They've forgotten to feed me today
They've packed up their bags and they've left me
To go off on some grand holiday.

I've been trying to look for my people
Though really I cannot think why
They've hit me, and kicked me, and starved me
Still I'm willing to have one more try.

But now as I lay at the roadside
My heart is so weary and sore
Won't someone out there simply love me
I've nowhere to go any more.

'Oh look at me' said the Boxer
'Oh look at me and sigh'
None can compare with my beauty
And the joy has come back to my eye.

For I've found someone to love me
To care about me, to adore
The ice round my heart it has melted
And I'm ready to trust you once more.

So now all you Boxer breeders
Before you sell your next whelp
Don't just get rid to the highest bidder
Or, like me, they might just need help.

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
What is to come - can have no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.

I know in time you too will see,
It is a kindness you do to me,
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve that it should be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

 For my Princess Tia

Today I sit alone and cry
Your loss so sad I cant describe
My memories soar a wave so high
Your playful bow your twinkling eye

Your life was full if not so long
You gave so much and asked for none
Your ease with us your clumsy grace
Oh Tia your better than this place

My mum and dad stayed by your side
Helped you through that final slide
They'll miss you so just as will I
We was not there to say good-bye

My dear sweet Tia your gone to rest
But this I know your stood the test
Your heart of gold it will remain
A part of us where you shall reign

Your spirit bright it fills my heart
Still I cant bear to see you part
Today I sit alone and cry
Tomorrow ill stand and say good-bye

Why own a dog? There's a danger you know,
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.

There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger.
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

One dog is no trouble, and two are so funny.
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey.

The fifth one delightful, the sixth one's a breeze,
You find you can live with a houseful with ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy but oh, look at the hair!

With dogs on the sofa and dogs on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, it's no bother you've said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more dog and just one more crate?

The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty,
The floor is all footprints, the furniture dusty.

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few nose prints and a little more hair?

So let's keep a puppy, you can always find room,
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the dogs you can add,
The thought of a cutback sure makes you sad.

Each one is so special, so useful, so funny.
The vet, the food bill grows larger, you owe money.

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other dog folks, who all live the same way.

Your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too,
But your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.

There's dog food and vitamins, training and shots.
And entries and travel and motels which cost lots.

Is it worth it, you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favourite dog comes and climbs in your lap.

His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the critters in spite of the bill.

Some just for showing and some just to breed.
And some just for loving, they all fill a need.

But winter's a hassle, the dogs hate it too.
They must have their walks though they're numb and you're blue.

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the dogs on the sofa who refuse to go out.

The dogs and the dog shows, the travel, the thrills,
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.

The whole thing seems worth it, the dogs are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.

Your life-style has changed. Things won't be the same.
Yes, those dogs are addictive and so is the dog game!!

For those Boxer Babies in the sky
Who have left our loving arms
Don't stop to ask or wonder why
Just know they're free from harm

No pain or fright confronts them now
They've left that all behind
They're embracing joy and freedom
And still live in our minds

Eyes are bright and seeing clear
Velvet skin is healed
Legs aren't stiff, and ears can hear
Our love they still can feel

Embrace their memory, hold it tight
Wipe away your tears
The Boxer joy that filled your life
Will last throughout the years

Think of them with happy thoughts
Say a thankful prayer
All those happy Boxer angels
Still know that we care

I'm a very worried Boxer
Who would so like a home,
I don't know why I was thrown out
I'm not the type to roam.

And now I am in kennels,
And the stories I have heard!
From both my doggie neighbours -
One would think they were absurd.

Alas that's not the case.
But truth is hard to bear,
One was beaten, the other starved,
Thank goodness now they're here.

There are so many of us
Nearly all with stories sad
And we cannot understand it
We cannot all be bad.

We think we're quite attractive
With our big brown soulful eyes
We've no coat that needs untangling
And we're not too big in size
Surely it is not a crime to want to love and live.

It's so not so very much to ask
~And we have so much to give
And we wouldn't be much trouble,
And we'd try so very hard

To fit in with a family.
We'd be a super guard.
So now perhaps we'll have a chance to be re-homed at last,
And go where people love us
And forget about our past.
